ANZAC Day Ceremony

ANZAC day was commemorated by the Morley Senior High School community with a whole school assembly on the last Friday of first term.  Special guests included our adopted digger, Mr Arthur Leggett, Mr Ian Britza MLA, City of Bayswater Mayor, Mr McKenna, City of Swan Deputy Mayor, Mr Lucas, Chairperson of the School Board, Mr Jack Garber, President Bedford Morley Sub Branch RSL, Mr Shearing and many other community representatives.

The Morley SHS cadets and school leaders escorted the official party to the front of the assembly. Morley Senior High School’s Vocal Ensemble, directed by Mr Chad Beins, sang a moving rendition of ‘In Flanders Field’ and led the singing of the National Anthem.

Laying of commemorative wreaths was conducted by the special guests beneath the Australian and school flag.  Mr Arthur Leggett (right) addressed the gathering of guests, staff and students. He spoke on the significance of ANZAC Day and its importance and relevance to people today.

The annual ceremony continues to be a very important part of the school calendar, honouring those service men and women who have helped create the country we now all enjoy and reminding the youth of sacrifices made by generations past.
